How to Create a Post
Creating a post on Trendter is fast and powerful. Here is how to make every post count.
Writing and Publishing a Post
- From any page, the composer appears at the top of your feed. Click "What's trending? Share your take…" to activate it.
- Type your post — up to 500 characters.
- Use the toolbar to add hashtags, @mentions, a poll, or emojis.
- Set your reply permission (who can reply to this post).
- Click Post.
Composer Tools
- # Hashtag — Opens an inline hashtag inserter. Hashtags make your post searchable on Trending and Explore.
- @ Mention — Tag another user. They receive a notification and your post links to their profile.
- 📊 Poll — Attach a poll with 2–4 options and a duration of 1–7 days.
- 😊 Emoji — Opens the built-in emoji picker. 550+ emojis, 9 categories, flags, and a search box.
- 💭 My Take — Mark your post as an Opinion post. The community can add and vote on perspectives below it.
Reply Permissions
Before posting, choose who can reply:
- Everyone (default) — Anyone can reply.
- Following — Only people you follow can reply.
- Mentioned — Only @mentioned users can reply.
- Verified — Only verified accounts can reply.
Hashtag Best Practices
- Use 1–3 hashtags for best reach. More than 5 looks like spam.
- Join existing trending hashtags rather than creating niche new ones.
- Hashtags are case-insensitive: #cricket and #Cricket are the same.
💡 Tip: Posts that ask a question or state a strong opinion generate more replies, which is the most powerful algorithmic signal (+5 per reply). "Hot take: [your opinion]" is a reliable format.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I edit a post after publishing?
Post editing is not currently available. You can delete the post via the ··· menu and repost with corrections. An edit feature with an edit history is planned for a future update.
What happens to my poll after it expires?
Voting closes automatically when the poll duration ends. The final results remain permanently visible on the post. The post itself stays on your profile.
Is there a daily limit on how many posts I can publish?
There is no set daily posting limit, but rate-limiting applies to prevent spam. If you hit a rate limit, wait a few minutes before posting again.
How do I delete a post?
Click the ··· menu (three dots) on your post and select "Delete Post". Deletion is immediate and permanent — deleted posts cannot be recovered.
Can I post in a specific Trend without going to the Trend page?
Not directly. To post within a Trend, open the Trend's page at trendter.com/t/trend-name and use the composer there. The post will automatically be tagged to that Trend.
What is the character counter?
A real-time counter appears in the composer showing how many characters you have used out of 500. The counter turns orange when you are within 20 characters of the limit and red when you exceed it.
Can I schedule posts for later?
Post scheduling is not currently available. You must publish in real time.
Why did my post get removed?
Posts are removed when they violate our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. You will receive a notification if your post is removed by moderators. If you believe it was removed in error, contact support.
Do hashtags increase my reach?
Yes. Hashtags connect your post to trending topic pages. If your hashtag is currently trending, your post appears on that tag's page and may reach thousands of people who follow that topic.
