How to Block a User
Blocking a user completely removes them from your Trendter experience and removes you from theirs. It is a mutual, silent action.
How to Block Someone
From their profile:
- Visit the user's profile.
- Click the ··· menu (three dots) at the top of their profile.
- Select 🚫 Block @username.
- Confirm the action.
From a post:
- Click the ··· menu on any post by that user.
- Select Block @username.
What Blocking Does
- They cannot see your posts, profile, or content anywhere on Trendter.
- You cannot see their posts, profile, or content.
- They cannot send you direct messages.
- Any existing follow relationship (both directions) is removed.
- The blocked user is not notified that they have been blocked.
How to Unblock
- Go to Settings → Blocked Accounts.
- Find the user in your blocked list.
- Click Unblock.
After unblocking, they can see your profile again (if you are public) but they do not automatically re-follow you.
💡 Muting vs. Blocking: Muting hides someone's posts from your feed, but they can still interact with you. Blocking is mutual — neither party can see or contact the other. Use muting for minor annoyances and blocking for harassment or serious issues.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a blocked user see my posts via trending or hashtag pages?
No. Blocked users cannot see your content anywhere on Trendter — not on trending pages, hashtag pages, search results, or their own feed.
Will the person know I blocked them?
They receive no notification. They will simply notice they can no longer view your profile or posts.
If I block someone and then unblock them, does the follow relationship restore?
No. Blocking removes the follow relationship permanently. After unblocking, they must send a new follow request (for private accounts) or simply re-follow you (for public accounts).
Can a blocked user still see my replies in threads they are part of?
No. Your replies in any thread are invisible to users who have blocked you or who you have blocked.
Does blocking remove their likes and reposts from my posts?
Yes. When you block someone, their interactions (likes, reposts) on your posts are removed.
Can I see a list of everyone I have blocked?
Yes. Go to Settings → Blocked Accounts to see your full blocked list and unblock anyone from there.
Is there a limit on how many people I can block?
There is no stated limit on blocking.
Can blocked users still report my posts?
This edge case is handled by our platform — users you have blocked cannot directly interact with your content, but the underlying report system operates separately. If you experience ongoing abuse, contact support.
What is the difference between blocking and restricting?
Trendter currently supports blocking and muting. A "restrict" feature (where the person can still interact but their actions are hidden from you) is planned but not yet available.
