How to Add Your Take

Adding your take is how you contribute to the Community Verdict discussion. Here is how.

Step-by-Step

  1. Find a post with a 💭 My Take badge (or browse trendter.com/verdict).
  2. Open the post by clicking on it (or click the 💭 counter in the action bar).
  3. Scroll to the Community Verdict section below the post.
  4. Click inside the "Share your perspective…" text area.
  5. Write your take — up to 400 characters.
  6. Click Add Your Take.

What Makes a Great Take?

  • Be specific. Vague takes ("I agree") rarely get upvotes.
  • Add new information or a fresh angle. Don't just repeat what the original post said.
  • Be concise. 400 characters forces clarity — treat it like a constraint, not a limitation.
  • Be civil. Takes that resort to insults get reported and removed.

Upvoting Takes

Browse the takes listed below an opinion post. Click ▲ next to any take you find insightful to upvote it. The most-upvoted take earns the 🏆 Best Take badge.

Deleting Your Take

Click the 🗑 Delete button below your own take to remove it. Once deleted, you can submit a new take.

💡 Strategy: The fastest takes are rarely the best-voted ones. Take a moment to read what others have already written, then contribute something that adds a different angle not yet covered. Unique perspectives earn more upvotes than duplicates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be notified when my take gets upvoted? +
Take upvote notifications are not currently sent to avoid notification overload. Check back on the post to see your take's vote count.
Can I edit my take after submitting? +
Take editing is not available. Delete your take and resubmit with corrections if needed.
Why can't I add a take to a post? +
There are two reasons: (1) The post is not a "My Take" opinion post — the author did not enable this feature. (2) You have already submitted a take to this post and have not deleted it yet.
What happens to my take if the original post is deleted? +
If the author deletes their opinion post, all takes submitted to it are also deleted.
Can takes contain links or hashtags? +
Takes can contain hashtags and plain-text URLs. Hashtags in takes are clickable. URLs are displayed as plain text (not hyperlinked) within takes.
Is there a time limit to add a take? +
There is no expiry on adding takes. You can contribute a take to an opinion post at any time, even months after it was published.
Why was my take removed? +
Takes that violate Community Guidelines (spam, harassment, hate speech, etc.) may be removed by moderators. You will receive a notification if your take is removed.
Can I take on posts from private accounts? +
You can add takes to opinion posts from private accounts that you follow. You cannot interact with private accounts you do not follow.
